Fire Alarm

Ok, so, one little thought before I go to bed. Last night our fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. Scared Sterling and I to death. The battery was dying, and sure enough the kids didn't stir at all. None of them moved or made a sound at all. Seriously, the thing was so loud and right out the doorway. I was talking to Annette and figured that instead of a loud sharp sound, all they need to do is have a recording of someone tip toeing into their room, and then they'd be awake in two seconds. Kids are funny.

Love love love your new family picture at the top...that is so cute! their shirts are all so darling. I've got to get Gray some button down collared shirts.

it's so true about the tiptoeing story. Zac and I try to be so quiet and then when we're loud he usually sleeps through it, so I think you're right!

what did you think about book club for thursday night? are you going to mutual tonight? we're sacking potatoes at 6:30. talk to you later!

Ah. How scary. That has me thinking that I'm about due to change the batteries in our alarms so I'm not scared during the night too. It seems like it never fails that the low battery sounds always have to go off at night. Glad that everything is OK.

I read this thing somewhere that said kids don't respond to the fire alarms like they used to. Now days, a lot of people have white noise machines from the time they are babies, so they are used to sleeping through noise. The same thing happened to us a couple years ago with our fire alarm, and it immediately woke up Josh and I but not the kids. At least we know we will hear it to wake them up in case of a fire, eh?

That would scare me to death! Can't imagine how it made you feel after the fire happened! Glad it was just a false alarm! Saw a Dateline about how kids and teenagers don't wake uo to the alarm, no matter how loud, so they tried recordings of the parents voices saying "There is a fire we have to get up" and it worked....the kids woke up!
Crazy!!!
Anyway...glad I found your blog! Gonna mark it on mine if that is okay!

I have wondered the same thing, about fire alarms. I hear that is true for most kids. Some where out there is a fire alarm with Mom or Dad's voice on it coaxing them out of bed and talking them through what do next. I found it very interesting.
